SYNTAGMA SQUARE NAFPLIO
It is the central square of the city. In the past, it was named Platanos (plane tree) square, because there was a plane tree in the middle.
The early years of the revolution the chieftains made their strategic plans under the shadow of the this long age plane tree.
Later, in 1826 the square renamed to Syntagma Square after it housed the first parliament in Vouleftio, that was a mosque till then.
In the square there is also and the venetian building that is housed the Archaeological museum of Nafplio.
Syntagma Square is a meeting place for both travelers and local inhabitants. In the area function restaurants, bars, cafeterias and a lot of commercial shops. There you can walk, relax, enjoy your lunch and have fun.
